The law firm was the title sponsor of the competition.

Catherine Moore, the coordinator of UB’s international law programs, sends great news:

“Please join me in congratulating the Nelson Mandela International Negotiations Competition champions, UB School of Law 2Ls Chanel White and Manti Bean!

“The team beat the University of Hawaii in the final round this weekend during the National Black Law Students Association‘s annual convention, which was held in Baltimore.

“The final round was a close, evenly matched negotiation centered on Haiti, a constitutional crisis, sovereign debt, development fund misappropriation and incoming development aid from the United States.

“As the problem writer for this year’s competition, I didn’t make it easy for them. The team took on UberPop in France, navigated through the Arctic waters in an access-to-oil-reserves scenario among the U.S., Russia and Canada, and hashed out the finer details of drone regulations that take into account privacy rights.”
