Professor Charles Tiefer has been invited to testify today (June 29) at a hearing organized by Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Texas), Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.), Rep. John Lewis (D-Ga.) and other House Democrats.
The Congressional Progressive Caucus is another sponsor of the hearing, which will focus on the importance of congressional investigation into potential collusion between Russia and President Donald Trump and his associates, despite the separate investigation by special counsel Robert Mueller.
Also scheduled to testify are John Dean, White House counsel during President Richard Nixon‘s tenure, and David Kendall, former counsel to President Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton.
Tiefer was the special deputy chief counsel of the House Iran-Contra Committee in the late 1980s. He has written extensively on investigative issues, including the matters that led to the impeachment of President Clinton.
Today’s hearing, “How to Define Obstruction of Justice in the Constitutional and Criminal Justice Context,” will take place from 3:30 to 5 p.m. in the Judiciary Committee Room (2226) in the Rayburn House Office Building.
