Dean Weich: ‘Wildly Unparalleled’ for Justice Dept. to Respond to President’s Tweets

Speaking in the New York Times, University of Baltimore School of Law Dean Ronald Weich says it’s uncharted territory for the U.S. Justice Department to react to a president’s disparaging tweets. Presidents often have been critical of federal law enforcement, but, Weich points out, the medium of Twitter is a new front for officials to manage.

Weich says that it’s “wildly unparalleled” for Justice officials to respond to President Trump’s tweets, as they have done since he accused them of being slow to deliver documents related to the Hillary Clinton email case, at the request of Congressional staff.
