UB School of Law Alumnus Eric Backes Heads Back to Jeopardy! Set for Tournament of Champions

As you may recall, UB School of Law alumnus Eric R. Backes, JD ’12, was a contestant on Jeopardy! back in February, winning over $100,000. He was called back to the show in September to tape the two-week Tournament of Champions, which airs beginning Monday, Nov. 4.

Backes will face 14 other big-winning contestants, including James Holzhauer, who won $2.52 million in 32 consecutive wins on the quiz show earlier this season.

Now residing near Austin, Tex., Backes lived in Maryland for many years and earned a law degree, with honors, from UB School of Law in 2012. Backes attended UB while working as legislative director to Maryland Sen. Katherine Klausmeier.

Backes confirmed on Oct. 30 that he had participated in the prestigious tournament, but as the Jeopardy! rules prohibit leaking any details about results, he could not say more about his experience. Tune in and find out!
